Density of Phrases

As part of several factors, Google and other search engines judge the relevancy and the quality of your website from the density of your phrases. Just to be clear, when I mean "density of your phrases", I don't make reference on how you write, but on the number of keywords that can be found in your phrases.

When you do a search on a subject, you normally type a keyword or a group of keywords, on a search engine. After having hit "Enter", the search engine then proceeds the research by finding and regrouping every keyword-related website from its database. That's essentially how a search engine works.

The fact that I'm trying to explain is that the popularity of your website will depend on the number of keywords that can be found in your sentences. You should add a few (2 or 3) similar keywords, in addition to your main keyword because you the search engines to display your website under several keywords that are used by the general public.

Let's take for example this phrase: "This program is a keyword ranking tool" and "The purpose of this program is to check the ranking of a keyword".

Regardless if you understood the phrase, just look at the way I wrote these two phrases and compare them with each other. The first thing you'll notice is that the second phrase seems to be more like professional than the first one.

But if you go to Google and search for "keyword ranking tool", which one of these phrases would be in your opinion ranked better?

That answer would be the first one. Why, you ask? Because the search engine thinks that the first phrase responds directly the answer of your research and thinks that it's the most relevant website. After all, the keyword you search with is found to be written exactly in the phrase. How more relevant can it get…?

If you have some doubts, you can do the experience yourself.

Go on Google Suggest and type "keyword ranking tool", you'll notice that this keyword has been searched 463 000 times. No doubt it's a group of keywords that is used by many people. However, in opposition, you'll notice that none of the group of words used in the second phrase is to be used by anyone if you type them in Google Suggest.

You can pretty much receive or improve your website's traffic if you use this little useful tip when you write your texts.

In addition to Google Suggest, I'd also suggest you to use Overture, which is a keyword selector tool that helps you find many searched keyword expressions of one keyword. Another similar great one is WordTracker.

But be very careful when you apply this technique. Don't bombard all your text with keywords. Google can actually ban you for abusing it. Only 2-3 keywords per page are acceptable. It's far more useful to put these keywords in your page's title or your page's description than in your content. That's where they should belong mostly.

However, applying this technique doesn't necessarily mean you'll get all the traffic you want because I can't stress enough, there are also other factors that decide the ranking of your website, and one of them is the keyword expression used when webmaster link your website from their own website.
